Assistance for KU researchers

The KU Center for Research, Inc. (KUCR) helps KU faculty and research staff collaborate with companies on research projects in a variety of ways:

Finding companies for collaboration
KUCR helps researchers identify industry segments and ways to contact companies that may have an interest in selected KU research programs for collaborative research.

Project initiation
KUCR may work with both the company and the KU researcher to help define the appropriate scope of research, reflecting the needs of the company and the research capabilities of KU.

Proposal and budget development, contract negotiations, and project management
KUCR is the primary resource for administering company-supported research projects at KU.

Confidentiality agreements, invention disclosures, and intellectual property policies
KUCR is the primary resource for all necessary agreements to support collaborative research.

Funding opportunities
Certain federal programs (e.g., Small Business Innovation Research) and state programs (e.g., cost sharing, seed funding) are available to support company-university projects. KUCR can help researchers evaluate how potential projects can take advantage of these programs.
